Default New to The F-150 Crowd, Few Questions (4.6)

Hello All,

I'm the happy new owner of an 2008 F-150 XLT, Reg Cab, 2wd with the 4.6l engine. The truck has 103,xxx miles and runs great, nice and smooth sounding engine and rides surprisingly well.

I've gone through about 2 tanks of gas so far and am averaging 14.2 MPG, this is a fairly even mix of highway and city driving while not stomping on the gas pedal or brakes.

I'm going to change the fuel filter this week and am going to switch the plugs and coils. Do you guys (and gals) think this will help with MPG's? Yeah...its a truck, I get it but I would like for it to run as efficient as possible. All tires are inflated to the same pressure as per tire recommendations. I'm assuming the plugs havent been changed yet but ill pull one out this week to be sure.

Also, whats your opinion on these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-pack-Ignit...9V~GxB&vxp=mtr

I really can't afford the Motorcraft ignition coils right now, do you think those will be good enough for now?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I normally get just under 16 MPG for winter combined driving with my 4.6, Super Cab 4x4.
!9 MPG summer combined. The winter gas mix and longer warm ups makes a big difference.
I would replace spark plugs, clean and dielectric grease the existing cops. If you don't have any misfires now, they are most likely good.

Save up for OEM COP's when you do change them.

unless you have problems with the COPs now .. i would just replace the boots and springs along with the plugs.
