Here's the thing, when the phasera were replaced, the noise was gone. Now the new exhaust is on, and its back louder than ever. I'm trying to figure out how thwyre related

Actually now that you say that, I remember something. I put the pipe back on a while back and where the pipes connected there was a little gap/hole like a leak. And the ticking was very loud with that. Maybe that's your problem.

What connection do you mean? We checked on both headers where the collectors are at, and when I was under the truck, its definitely drivers side, but up and near the rear of the engine

Mine did the same exact thing when I put my headers, cats, x-pipe, and mufflers on. There wasn't a tick before but there was afterwards. At first I was thinking the same thing as you. I thought it was the phasers but it wasn't. I had my mechanic search for it until he found it and as much as he said he knew it wasn't the headers....it was. There was a leak on the driver side rear of the header manifold. He tightened the bolts up and the ticking was gone.
It doesn't hurt to grab some sockets and make sure all the bolts are secured properly.

Pretty sure that's what I'm gna do one of these mornings when the engine's cold. That's what the mechanic said to do as well, and any bolts I can't reach, he will get

Well did you have the exhaust fully welded or you use clamps. If you used clamps the clamps are your issue becuase of the rapid epanding and contracting of the pipes and clamps on the new metel it creates that ticking noise you here and a good way to tell is if you turn the truck off and it ticis for a minute or two after you shut it off. My dodge did that for about two months or so then went away
