There's only to ways to ram/force air. Turbo or supercharge. Everything else is pissin in the wind. No offense, but even the hood mount setups are worthless. These trucks punch a huge hole in the air. Ever notice at what rate the rain drops blow off of your hood? There's not a lot of air coming across the hood.

My 2011 sonata turbo has a tube that goes to the front of the car for fresh air from the factory. I definately agree it wont be ram air, but it would definately get fresher air than the fender.

This will get non-deflected air unlike the hood scoops, and it will be from both sides

How will you deal with rain water getting in? Just curious, not blasting your design.

^^ this. It don't matter how
Much air you can force in there. If it's not compressed as in a turbo or super charger, you're wasting your time.

filter box with filter above the inlet duct small hole to drain water and 4 inches of extra room past the filter itself to avoid anything other than air to directly contact the filer surface.......ok rough design ... MS Paint is all I have right now

And for those snow days there will be an electronic servo to cut off the "fresh air" and bring in air from above fan shroud

I might suggest a deflector to force the air to go down toward the bottom of the box to hopefully make it drop the water out of it before entering the filter.

If I'm following you correctly, you are trying to create a ram-air style intake, correct?

The 90* bends after the filters are seem to negate pretty much any increase in pressure or velocity you may have built up. I personally think just trying to smooth the airflow (get rid of bends/turns) would be of more benefit, but I am intrigued by this design! Definately follow up with some pics of how this turns out!
