Default New 6" lift, grinding noise.

I just installed a rough country 6" on my 2007 f150. When I start to drive, as I accelerate, I get a grinding noise coming from the front end. When I release the gas, it stops, then as I acceperate again, it comes back. However if I put the truck in 4X4, the noise goes away completely. When I swith back to 2x4, it starts again. help please.

Well.....i worked at 4 wheel parts for 9 years as a tech and service manager, a common problem on the 4wd if the installer was not careful and/or did not know of this issue is the plastic housing inside the 4wd hub cracks, allowing there to be a vacume leak. Vacume is what keeps these hubs disengaged from 4wd. Id check that first, its the part that has 3 8mm bolts that hold it onto the back of the knuckle. Check the inside plastic when you pull it apart, i hope this helps.

So the vacuum keeps it disengaged? I thought when the vacuum increased, that's what engaged it. Interesting.

No... vacuum pulls the IWE's out into 2WD.. you may have a disconnected vacuum hose at the wheel end.. check that first and then check what Jake told you to check..
