Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what issues to look for while test driving this 05 xlt 4x4 SCREW? Also what would a fair price be? http://mikecarpinoford.com/Pittsburg...ruck/23886549/

Pretty high on mileage. Hell I would sell you my 04 with half the miles for that price. That is my favorite color though

I'd keep looking... I have an 05 lariat. I just had to put over $3k into the engine end of last year and I just rolled 60k miles and ZERO sludge. If you do get it, I'd recommend replacing the cam phasers and everything connected to them... Tensioners, timing sets, etc. even if they aren't making noise now, with 140k+, they are a ticking time bomb. I love my trucks features, but am very disappointed in the drivetrain in this year model.

Would $7,000 for an 04 xlt scab with the 4.6 and 106,000 miles be bad?

That truck isn't worth a penny over $7/8,000, and I wouldn't touch it for that price unless it was being sold on a Ford lot and they were throwing in a free tune-up (replace plugs and COPs) and were replacing the cam phasers/tensioners/etc before selling me the truck. I'd make sure the clutches in the rear diff didn't need to be replaced as well, and make them throw that in. IF they did all that I might offer them $9,500.

Just my two cents.

If I was doing it all over again, I wouldn't buy anything earlier than an '08. If that's not in the cards, I'd be looking pre '03. I would completely stay away from '04-'07 ford products.
Now, if you just love the truck and are ok spending an extra grand or so every year on repairs, then go for it.

I see red flags all over that. I'd avoid that dealer considering they don't even know the details of the truck listed.

I have an 04 and really haven't has any big problems over the past 3 years. I only have 78k. I've replaced my exhaust manifold, studs, iwe, alternator blah blah. But it's been a solid truck just wish it had a factory trac loc. sucks having open diff in the snow belt
