Default Need some advice with the dreaded ticking sound

So my truck has always had the dreaded tick of the 5.4L. I was fine with until 2 days ago it started making a fluttering sound and the tick is louder along with the flutter almost drowns out the ticking. Have an appointment @ Ford on Monday, service manager says he wants to check the oil pressure first, then go from there as far as the line of cam phasers, injectors and valves. Just want everyones opinions so I can have my cards on the table when they tell me what they think it is.

Turn up the radio.

Sucks but for the price of the repair...I'll live with it.

I agree! Ill deal with it rather than pay $1300 to get it fixed.

Well I have been dealing with the ticking and it doesnt bother me as I had a 7.3 Powerstroke with Stage 2 single shots that had the same noise almost. I honestly like it. Im not worried with the ticking sound but recently it started to do a fluttering sound that drowns out the tick. Im not worried about the cost because I bought a 3yr extended warranty because of this problem. $1500 for warranty or $2300 for cam phasers and ????. Ive already used about $600 in repairs of the warranty so its paying off.

Word.. also, i have the ticking noise.. brought it to ford and they told me that its supposed to make the ticking noise, they said it was perfectly normal for the phasers to "chatter" a little bit. As for the fluttering sound i would definitely let the dealer take a look at it, just dont let them rip you a new one... you should be alright though having the extended warranty.

Well we shall find out Monday. They know better to screw me againg, they already did once by making me pay for a PCM flash and said it wasnt under warranty, called the warranty company and it was suppose to be covered.... wheew they got a ripping from me. Now I just deal with the service manager and he gets everything taking care of for me. Only reason I still go there is the mechanic is my friend so I trust him.
