So I'm trying something different today. I went from my GOTTS mod back to the stock air intake system(hated the rattle that the GOTTS mod caused being metal on PVC). I'm going to run a couple of tanks though it and see if my milage increases any. My theory is below....
90% of the driving of it is in and around town so i dont really see the need to have all that extra air flow in turn which would cause the computer to increase fuel being put into the cylinders. Is this correct thinking or am I completely off base here?

Yes you are correct that it will increase the amount of fuel used. But in doing so it will create more hp. Maybe this will put it in prespective. Just an analogy, not true specs: With gotts mod- push pedal half way: engine produces 150 hp. With stock setup-push pedal half way : engine produces 140 hp. If you drive exactlly the same with both set ups then the gotts mod setup will burn more fuel. But if you compensate just a little you can get the same hp with less pedal push. I have the gotts mod and I dont think it increased hp, maybe 1-3hp improvement but that is only like a 1% increase. Not enough to notice on a 5,000lb truck. Throttle response did seem to improve though, maybe thats just in my mind bc I wanted it to. I dont think it will make a differnce which way you run it in realtion to city driving gas mileage. Changing your driving habbits will have the biggest effect. Slow and stead wins the gas race.

There is not "extra" air flow with the Gotts. You have a naturally aspirated engine, a certain air is going to get drawn into the cylinder every intake stroke. What the Gotts mod accomplishes is reducing the restriction in the system. It makes it easier to pull the air in, there is no "more" air coming in. The slight increase in power comes from the motor taking less energy to draw in on the intake stroke, not because of large amounts of "extra" air and fuel. It Gotts helps at every throttle position due to less restriction. The gains usually aren't great at low rpm for most any mod, but it does help. See the dyno graph below that Bill at PHP did on a 2009 with the 5.4L. The Gotts/snorkel removal doesn't add much at low rpm, but it helps.
