Now I have an 08 xlt with the 5.4 liter and yesterday I bought an edge evolution programmer and a k&n cai and I want to put both in when I get them but I heard that I may need custom tunes for my CS which I could get from PHP but I didn't want to have to do that right yet and want to throw both the programmer and CAI on but I do not wanna mess anything up so please help me out thanks!

Look in the aftermarket section, in stickies. There is more than enough reading to find an answer regarding tuners and cai.

I can't seem to find out exactly what I want though I know that most people like custom tunes rather than canned tunes which makes a lot of sense but I wanna run it like it is right now for a little bit and then get custom tunes eventually but I just don't want to make my truck run lean without the custom tunes

Run the Edge on level 2 and you should be ok..It runs a little richer.

So that should be safe for the time being until I get a couple of custom tunes from PHP I know these questions are pretty easy but this is my first programmer so I don't wanna ruin my motor

^It's fairly safe on level 2, just try to stay away from WOT bursts. This is PHP's recommendation until you get custom tunes.

you can also do level 2 go into custom tuning and bump your fuel all the way up so if you stomp on it in level 2 it wont run lean, ive had mine like this for 4 years i have a cai and dual exhaust and have had no problems what so ever

Alright thanks dude I'm definitely gonna be putting duals on and get a custom tune but that will help toiill I do that!
