Need help with a water leak
I installed a new amp and sub in my truck today. When I pulled the carpet up on the passengers side I found the carpet was wet. I can not see any spot that it is leaking in to the truck. Anyone have any ideas before I pull the interior out of my truck?
Thanks

Use the search, and use "water leak". There are several areas that can leak. With the search, you'll see that the third brake light, rear window (slider or no slider), and Air Conditioner (there's a TSB on this one) are all possibilities, assuming you have not done any mods to the seals, etc.

I had this issue... Stupid dealership pulled my dash, said they found a crack in the firewall by the front right pillar. Fixed it. Problem still there. I mentioned to check the AC drain to see if it was clogged... They said it was not the AC.
SO... I found this TSB:
PASSENGER FRONT FLOOR WATER LEAK—A/C TSB 07-13-5
CONDENSATION LEAKING
FORD: LINCOLN:
2004-2006 F-150 2006 Mark LT
ISSUE
Some 2004-2006 F-150 and 2006 Mark LT vehicles
may exhibit water leaking back into the cab and on
to the passenger floor from the A/C plenum drain
tube area.
ACTION
Refer to the following Service Procedure to
determine if the water leak is from the air
conditioning drain tube.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Verify that the water leak is from the heating
ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) case drain
seal and not from another source. Pull back the
carpet on the passenger floorboard and feel the
HVAC drain tube seal for water (Figure 1A-1B)
The concern may be verified easier with the
front of the vehicle slightly elevated.
a. If there are signs of water or moisture at the
drain tube seal, continue on with the TSB.
b. If there are no signs of water or moisture,
follow normal diagnosis and repair
procedures.
I felt the water leaking from around the AC drain area back into the truck. Apparently the tube that sticks out does not stick out far enough, and drains back into the cab under the rug.
Brought this into my local dealership (not where a bought it) and they performed the TSB, problem gone! The TSB adds an extender elbow piece to the AC drain.
Post your email address, and I'll send you a copy of the TSB.
It could be something else, third brake light etc... but for me this was it.
Good luck, you'll find it,
Steve

Well I am almost 100% sure that is the problem. I pulled the inner fender down so I could get to the drain. I could not get anything into it so I used a piece of coax cable and pushed it into the drain. Water came pouring out.
thanks for all the help.

Water Leak from firewall on Passenger Side
here's a link to a copy of the TSB .... seems like it may be a common problem but the actual TSB is hard to find. It give instructions to correct and shows pics of the problem.

Thanks for sharing the TSB post and link. My 2004 does suffer from this leak. With the original factory warranty long gone, does anyone know if the dealer will charge to perform the TSB service?
