Need help with starting issue
I have read through the forums here for a solution but wanted to ask for a second opinion.
I am having a no crank / no start issue. It just happened 7/7/2014 when I went shopping. I returned to the truck and nothing at all when I turned the key. I have lights inside.
I check all the fuses in the fuse panel. I pulled the battery and had tested and it was bad so I put a brand new battery in. Cleaned all the contact points on the cables to the battery. Still nothing ?
When the key is turned you can here typical noises but when key is turned to start I can hear a clicking noise in the fuse panel and it seems to concide with the radio shutting back off.
Security light is normal
Tried tapping on the starter with a hammer still no crank or start.
At this point I think it has to be the starter, would this be a correct assessment?

Long shot, but maybe the fuel pump shut-off switch popped. Check your manual though. That shouldn't affect cranking the engine.

Check the wire by the battery which connects to the solenoid. It sounds like you have power to the relay in the passenger side as you hear the clicking but it's common for the wire (connector) by the battery to corrode. Worth a look? Sometimes reconnecting it makes it work (as the corrosion moves):

Otherwise I'd start checking voltage at the starter with a voltmeter. Securlok light isn't flashing like mad on the dash either right when you go to start? - Sometimes remote starters can mess with this if it wasn't installed properly.

Could be a bad alternator, when they are bad they will drain the battery quick.... I'd check that out as well since you think it could be the starter.
If it isn't a bad alternator it is probably the starter, that would be a fairly accurate assumption with your symptoms.

ok so here was the problem. the solenoid wire to the starter was so corroded that it detached. Atleast I hope it is the issue I have a new starter on the way.

Well I got most of the wires disconnected. After looking at the bolts I can see this is going to be a Pain in the butt to do.
Starter will be here tomorrow and I will try to finish the job but if not I will definitely finish it this weekend. I will try to take more pictures while I am at it
for anyone that wants to know I purchased my starter on Amazon for $71.71.
