i was rethinking some ideas and money situation but i wanted to know ur alls opinion, im looking for an 04 F150 scab or screw and def FX4 package. is the only interior that comes with the FX4. also what kind of miles can i expect to find on this truck for this price. im going to be getting one from an auction with my uncle/mechanic and he gets all his vehicles from their so having him their with his lot liscense helps me get the best choice truck and hopefully one that doesnt have alot of unknown probs that the sellers dont disclose. but basically how many miles can i expect for 8 grand 9 grand and 10. and also would ual recommend the screw or scab.
Second, while buying at an auction can net a good deal price wise, it's a crap shoot at best. Dealers send vehicles off to an auction for a reason. Either they already have enough of a particular brand/model used on their lot, the vehicle is not worth the retail price they might expect to sell it for on their lot, or it has already sat on their lot for some time without selling.
No warrantees to ask for, no known history of the vehicle, and you cannot take the vehicle for a test drive before buying (or have it checked out by a neutral mechanic before purchase).
So yep, a deal can be had, but a lot more lemons are possible too. For those reasons, I prefer to purchase from a larger dealer. I can then "deal" on a warrantee or have the vehicle checked out by a third party mechanic prior to purchase.
