i just got my new truck it is an 04 xlt but it doesnt seem to have a trip or maybe im just very stupid i have looked in the truck and in the manual but i cant find a way to use it. i hope some on has some ideas. the dash does not have a post to push in like all of my other trucks. the dash is the one with a tach, compass and temp on it. thanks

Your 04 XLT...Is it a "Heritage" or a Ranger model? In 04, Ford made the heritage model, which was actually the same as the 03's and ealier. The new body style started in 04, but there are some major differences between the 04 to 08 and the heritage 04 models.

Any chance you could post a pic of that instrament cluster? On the 04 to 08 non-heritage models, there is a black "stick" that protrudes from the cluster that allows the driver to switch between the odometer and trip1/trip2 mode, plus pushing and holding this stick resets the trip mileage.

Not knowing the early 04 heritage models, maybe they did not come with this....?

it is the new body style not the hertiage and it is a f150 and like i stated before ther is no stick i wonder if the dash has been changed or maybe it didnt come with trip

if you have the tach, speedometer, you should have the trip. if you have no tach, then your cluster has been changed.
