need help fellas, my 06 4.6 is slow as hell
I just bought a used supercrew xlt 2006 f150, would have bought the 5.4 but there were none around here under 70k miles. Love the truck but god damn its slow. I rented a 2011 5.0 for a month and was impressed by the power on that thing.
What can i do to make this car move out of its own way a little better? Just appreciate all the help, it has a dual exhaust now which i need to change since its rusting pretty bad. I just want the best bang for my buck . im used to a wrx that can get out of its own way very easy

Start with basics, exhaust then intake, then tuner w/ custom tunes to match the exhaust and intake then from there you can get efans and underdrive pulleys and what not. Thats about all you can do short of a SC on it but then your talking 4-5000 thousand

just a tough work truck
Is your truck 4x4 or 2wd? Alot problem with 4.6 is it has all its power mid to high RPMs and 95% of them have highway gears and it takes them forever to get moving. Gears help them out alot. Just my 2 cents, I have had 2 4.6 f150s and love the motor and I also just came out of a high powered vehicle(588HP 6.4 diesel)

Its never going to compare (unless you dump alot of $ into it) to your wrx. It has less hp and wieghs twice as much. The usual intake/exhaust/tuner/etc will help, but not THAT much. Gearing will be the biggest bang for your buck.

Oh I know it's no wrx but it's way slower then the 2011 I rented. That thing hauled *** easily, I just want more low end power so I can get on the highway easier and get moving etc. it has an exhaust now but the tips are rusting bad so I was going to replace both sides rear section. As far as intakes how much up and torque can be gained by them and any suggestions? I'm in upstate ny so I'm not sure where they can tune my 4x4 yes it has 4 wheel drive, thanks for the responses I really appreciate it

If you want an intake you will want a tuner at the same time to prevent it from running to lean, between the 2 you may see 20hp and 30lb torque depending on settings. Some other basic stuff to do is a basic tune up, change the plugs, oil, belts, etc

if you were looking for speed, you shouldnt have bought a pickup truck... just a thought...you can make the trucks fast but its not like your going to go fast and handle like a sports car. buy a mustang with a v8 if your lookin for speed, its not worth it to make your pickup go fast.
