I previously had a 2010 F150 5.4 liter Supercrew that I had the factory muffler cut out and had a Magnaflow 5"x8"x18" SI/SO (3") muffler put on. I kept the factory tail pipe. I had it taken off the same day because the drone on the freeway was so bad. My question is, I now have a 2004 F150 Supercrew with the 5.4 and am wanting to change out the factory muffler on it. I still have the 18" Magnaflow (part #12259)and was wondering if I would have better luck with it on the 2004 than I did on the 2010. Would things such as the older 3V motor, older 4 speed trans and having a 3.55 vs a 3.73 rearend make it work better on this truck? I love the sound of the Magnaflow at idle and when accelerating but don't want to have the dreaded drone again.

If I have it installed and it still drones would putting a Bullet or Glasspack muffler in front of the Magnaflow eliminate some or all of the drone? Do the 2004-2008 F150s have a factory resonator already installed? I think the newer F150s do but I could be wrong. I only want to do this once so that is why I am asking. Any input is appreciated.
