Dude, you want to be able to SMOKE 37s in 4 hi..

Supercharger, true duals magnaflow mufflers, dyno tuned, headers, DOHC 4.88 gears, some other little goodies, you'd RAPE those tires.

WOW! I cant believe we're fighting here about the 4.6 or the 5.4...they're two totaly different engines, other than their modular design.

I got the 5.4 because theirs no replacement for dispacement. I plan on flat bed towing a light weight 2 seater British sports car to some races here and there and thats why I wanted it...

As a family we use to tow a 24' travel trailer with a 305 chevy caprice station wagon and the thing would over heat all the time...So my dad got smart and bought a Ford E-350 with a 460 V-8. And now....NO PROBLEMS.

I must admit that the gas mileage sucks ***** though...7mpg when towing. But it's never struggled a bit it's whole time pulling the trailer.

Conclusion: If you're not towing, the 4.6 is great...if you wanna tow then go with the 5.4

Save up and do a gear swap.

My truck is a 4.6 and its quick, not fast, just quick. Not much to do to our 4.6 trucks except the minor bolt ons.
just wondering after i looked at your truck...did you put a leveling kit on your truck, if so how many inches, and what is the size of your tires? thanks

so if i add on i new intake do i have to change out my throttle body? should i add a throttle body spacer on like this one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/THROT...4506.m20.l1116

Well, I was curious about the track times.
I did a search and found that the 5.4 3vf150 does 0-60 in 9.1 sec with a 1/4 mile time of 16.5.

4.6 2v F150 does 0-60 in 9.9 sec with a 1/4 mile time of 17.4.

This info was found on motor trend.

for thows that can not understand why someone would get the 4.6 over the 5.4 engine.

Think about the hidden cost of the 5.4 over the 4.6

The insurance will be more and some people may not be able to get insurance with the bigger motor.

You will spend more in gas most most people wouldn't be able to keep the foot out of it so they will burn more gas. Not to mention the speeding tickets.

The up keep is more expensive.

Maybe they got what they could afford or what was available to them at the time and money has become available now for some upgrades.

There could be a lot of reasons why someone would choose the 4.6 over the 5.4. It only has to make since to the person that bought the engine in the first place.
