Default Navteq DVD question

I have a 2008 FX4 with factory nav. The disc version that I have currently is 6p. A couple of months ago, I checked on Navteq's site and saw that version 8p was released (in May) and you could buy it online. I din't at the time because it was $150. Now it's no longer listed and it says they no longer sell them, that you have to go through Ford directly.
However, Ford is telling me that the latest version they have is 7p. It doesn't make any sense. Why would I want a version that is already a year old?
Does anyone else have version 8p? If so where did yo get it? Do you have a part #?
Thanks.

I contacted Navtech a few months ago and they also told em the newest version was 8p. I have 6p in my 07 and asked the navteq rep how many changes there were in my zip code and the lady looked it up and said there were only 4 changes. So I'm not holding my breath for it. Ford here (NC) won't sell me one, they refer me to navteq, so don't know what to tell you.

I was reading the manual last nite, it mentioned that Updates are FREE, but you may have to pay for the shipment of the disc. Sounds reasonable.

By contrast, Garmin charges for the disc and charges large to unlock and use the maps. It costs a bout $100 USD for a garmin update.

I am going to try to get an update this week. Even though the truck was manufactured may this year, I noticed that our new hospital was not updated even though it was built 12 months ago. I assume then that our maps are 12 months out.

I also have an 08 with the 6p disc. My Ford dealer was able to find it for me and it was $150. But I didn't ask if this was the 7p or 8p, I was just assuming it was the 8p since that was the newest. I will def check before I buy it now. If it helps any, my dealer is Mac Haik Ford in Houston, Texas. Might give them a call and get the part number from them for your local dealer.

I called yesterday- the lady who I talked too said that there is no update for the Ford 09 F150, yet.

Their on-line map did show the updated location for our new hospital, the truck still shows the old, so I am thinking something is in thw works.
