My Subwoofer Box (2004 SCAB)
Hey guys! I thought you'd like a new idea on box building to get a good sound in your SCAB!
This is the passenger side w/ both doors open. (Obviously, ha.) The subwoofer box takes up the smaller part of the fold up seat. Note that this box fits with the seat slid all the way back & comfortably reclined.
Heres an angle pic so you can see how it meshes w/ the overall dimension.
This is the fitament from the drivers side, very aesthetically pleasing IMO.
This shows the perfect fit between the rear door & the box when the door is closed.
The box is formed w/ 1/2" MDF, braced w/ corner braces. I wrapped the viewable area w/ fiberglass to allow a nice form to keep function of the seat back storage as well as clearance. It houses a downfiring 10" Kicker Comp VR & has a single slot port on the tall corner closest to the door.
I'm powering it with a Fosgate Punch 360 @ 2ohm Mono w/ signal coming from a Clarion MAX385VD In-Dash DVD Player & Audio Control EQ for signal increase.
The box sounds great with all types of music as I listen to anything from Chevelle to DJ Unk, but due to the air tight nature of the cabs, optimum "thump" is only achieved w/ all windows down. When nature calls & I have to keep them rolled up, I simply turn the sub control down & get a nice sound.
I really debated doing this as I originally planned to do a false floor under the seat w/ a "cut & weld" enclosure in the floor pan but didn't want to go that extreme for resale purposes. I though of how often I had passengers & I seldom carry 5 people so I went for it. I made it simple to remove in the event of needing the space.

that looks so smooth. i just did that with a 15 and its ridiculous. i'm flip flopping and i think i'm going to go under the seats. just love the stock look.

i did the same thing temporarily with a 15". Looks great.
