My Radial Engine F150
Tricked you! But seriously, why does my 5.4l 3v sound like a biplane going down the road?
Here is a video. The sound seems to be resonating from the passenger side floorboard and the sound is like a metallic "spit" or "sputter". I am thinking passenger side exhaust manifold leak? But no codes thrown.
Possbile phaser, rocker clatter, VCT solenoid, or manifold leak.
Thanks for any input

Sure sounds like an exhaust leak to me.

Mine has a similar sound but I only hear it when overdrive kicks in on the highway. Had a muffler shop take a look at it and they couldn't find anything. It might have gotten a bit quieter from changing VCT solenoids and oil change. Not positive though.

Manifold would be my guess. Mines been leaking for 2 years and hasn't thrown a code yet.
