My new F150 getting 10MPG and cabin fuel smell
I was curious to know if my truck is getting real low mileage. I just picked up a 2005 F150 4x4 5.4 crew cab with 120K. When I drove it back from the dealer, all highway, I got about 16.8MPG. Driving mostly city right now, my computer is showing about 10.4MPG. Sounds real low I think. I am driving very gentle without quick accelerations and I live in the NorthEast.
I am also getting a fuel smell in my cab when I am mostly stopped. I took it to a mechanic near me ( the dealer I bought the truck from is about 2 hours away) and he did not smell anything but he thinks that it might be the injector seals. Any suggestions on these 2 matters would be greatly appreciated.

Well you need to figure up your mileage by hand to make sure that is correct. 12 is probably average for city driving. Also check your air filter and see if it needs to be replaced because a dirty filter will bring your mpg way down.
