Default My (late) Bed-off Restore Thread

I Finished this about a year ago, and just realized I never did a thread on it. When I bought my 04 FX4 Screw, It had some serious rot in the bed. I had to pull the bed off to get it repaired. So while the bed was at the body shop getting cut and welded, I took the rest of the truck and did a complete rear frame restore. There was a lot of surface rust, but Not really any structural rot.
But I decided to grind down everything I could to bare metal and start from scratch... Here are all the pics from beginning, and ending In my new Bullet Liner Spray-in...

Very nice! I will be doing the same thing this spring except I have a nice bed from Tennessee that I am having painted to match. My fenders and the bed seams are in bad shape. Doing the same thing to the frame that you did and spraying U-POL raptor liner on the rockers, bumbers, the two tone and the inside of the doors where they roll the edge at the bottom. What did you use on the frame? What was the time frame for doing the frame? Thanks!

I used POR-15 frame paint and then 2 coats of the top coat spray as the regular frame paint degrades in sunlight. Took me about 24 hrs of just grinding and another 8 to paint...All in all with the bedliner and body shop costs it was around 1200 bucks...

And this is the truck today with some new wheels and tires. Although they rub a bit so I may sell them and get 34's...

I am looking forward to doing mine real bad. My wifes uncle is going to paint it for the cost of materials plus beer and some money he is not aware of yet. Just the outside and tailgate and I am doing the bed liner, frame restore and spraying the bed liner on the rockers in hopes to make it upstate NY winter proof. I bought the bed for 1400$ paint will be about 400$ bed liner about 200$ plus the por-15 and frame paint. Had a shop quote me replacing the fenders and it was about 2500$ with no guarantees that in 3-5 years the rust would show up again, so I will be close to that number but the box is perfect. Truck looks good!
