at my breaking point

I would disconnect the battery again, clean the MAF with MAF cleaner, clean the TB with TB cleaner, take out each plug and look for a fouled/bad/cracked plug, check each COP boot, reinstall COPs with di-electric grease. Then connect batter and there is a certain fuel relearn process (get engine warm with all electronics off, turn on AC, let idle for 1 min, put foot on brake and put in drive, let idle for 1 min, then go for a 10+ mile drive). It might take a little while, but I'd rather do that than have a shop do it.

This may sound dumb, but everyone who told you that one of your COP's may be bad could be right. Sometimes it won't be noticable to the naked eye. What brand COP's did you buy? This is common with VW's too, not just Ford...some of the aftermarket producers are made in china (go figure...) and are literally f*cking sh*t right out of the box. Something to look into, you get what you pay for...

Yep, I agree with the bad COP also. But not knowing which one, I wouldn't go throw money at that. Maybe switch them around, but if it's not working on 1, then it won't work on another. It could be a number of things, try to start with the simplest and work towards the more complex methodically so you cover all your bases and not waste money along the way.

No, sorry, I don't know how to test them. I also meant to mention that all electronics can go bad just after purchase, no matter who makes it. I had a $140 alternator go bad within a month.

I may have found the prob. I hooked it up to a very expensive scanner and nothing showed being wrong except the spark duration. Cylinder #4 was .7 and the rest were 1.8. Any thoughts?

Considering the cop is just a large capacitor that stores energy, it would seem that your #4 is only holding half the power it should and is defective or the plug gap is way too wide.

Ok thanks. I thought that a coil would either work or not i didn't know it could work "half-***". Im gonna try a diff coil on that cylinder and see if that's the cause of all my headaches.
