Well...This is kinda disappointing. Three of the caps that hold the cam down on right side are cracked in half. The journals on the cam are scored real bad. Out of the 12 lash adjusters only two will move.

I'm no expert but I would say that you may be out of luck. may cost a lot of money to get new caps and sounds like you'll need all new bearings. Plus who knows what else possible metal shavings may have done. In my opinion the whole engine would have to be taken apart. Just to be safe. Looks like the previous owner did not take care of her properly.

Why didnt you just get a new reman or a salvage yard one in the first place?

with that much damage I would get a new motor. Find an 07-08 and do all the work on a stand (plugs, cops, cams...) before installing it

I've come to the conclusion that this motor isn't worth fixing. Probably go with a remaned.

Same thing happened to me. I tried to fix my motor after a cheap purchase with a couple problems but then just went south in a hurry so i gave up. went with a jasper rebuilt motor. Picked it up for around 5k and it comes with a 100k mile warranty.

don't waste your time on that engine. Looks like severe oil starvation. Find an engine from a salvage yard.
