It doesn't have 3.73 or a LSD I believe. :/ fx4 for that one.

I might have to double check if I have that then lol. In the rain I can get the back out and keep it out though which makes me think I don't have an LSD.

After my 05 STX got totaled I went and bought a 08 FX4 with all the bells and whistles. WOW I didn't know what I was missing! I would have never been able to go from a FX4 to a STX. Living in Michigan the heated seats are amazing and its also nice to have the sunroof as well. Another option it came with was a back up cam in the rear view mirror. I didn't think that I would use it much because i didn't think I could get used to using it but now that I have had it awhile, its great. I like the back up cam the best for backing up to my travel trailer to hook it up. My wife likes it too because now she doesn't have to come out and "attempt" to guide me as I'm backing up to the hitch.

I will add that the mirrors should be a big consideration, although you can always upgrade. I have the mid-level mirrors, but if you are going to tow, then you might want the towing mirrors. Also, towing package that includes a tranny cooler and the beefier suspension since you are planning to tow.
I appreciate the keypad, so I can never be locked out unless my battery is dead, and I need the center console shifter because my knees make it impossible to keep the transmission in drive with a column shifter. I find the 6.5' bed absolutely necessary...if not a bit short for household tasks. I couldnt imagine having a 5.5'. And lastly, I like all of the amenities that help me overlook that I drive a truck...leather, sunroof, audiophile sound, Super Crew cab, backup sensors, etc.

It would be great to get a FX4 or Lariat with the fancy options but I think I may go for a newer XLT. I can get a 1 owner 2007 XLT for the same price a 2004-2005 FX4/lariat would cost. Since I live up north in the salt land I am thinking its best to go with the newer XLT and skip the fancy interior of the FX4/lariat.
Future plans for the truck would be pulling 19-21' boat, a few ATVs, pop up camper etc.....

You set the temp and it controls fan speed based on the temp inside the cab. Also controls where the air comes from. The fx4 I looked at didn't have that, but my lariat does.

Just bought an 08 Lariat 1 month ago and I love it. Especially with only 37K on it!
It has:
Tow Package
3:73 LSD
Rear Camera
Auto Temp Control
Power Slider rear window
Sunroof
Tow Mirrors
