Default Mp3 Usage on 2007 F-150

I have a 2007 F-150 that has a mp3 connection on the top of the dash. I tried 2 different mp3 players, but neither works,is there something i have to have to make it work? If you know anything about this, please let me know Thanks

First, make sure the source is switched to AUX, if that doesnt work then youll have to pop the surround and make sure its plugged in to the back of the stereo properly. I rerouted mine so the one on top of the dash is just there for show.
