Mounting locations for brake controller?
I'm looking to install a brake controller in my 04 FX4 (center console shifter). I'm not sure if I want an aftermarket controller or if there is a way to integrate the OEM controller from the newer models into the dash somewhere. Just curious to see if anyone has done an OEM install and if I could get some pics of aftermarket installs/OEM installs. Thanks in advance guys!

no easy way to integrate the system from the newer trucks. I bought a Tekonsha Primus IQ controller and ford specific harness for a 5 minute plug and play installation. I used some velcro to attach the snap bracket to the under side of the dash above the gas pedal. I can remove the controller from the truck in 20 seconds, and its not in the way at all of my leg when driving.
Alltogether I paid like $80 shipped for the setup, and the Primus will handle up to 3 axles with electric brakes and is self leveling. It also has 3 different levels of "boost" if you want more braking power and has a "hold" system that reduces power to 25% to the trailer brakes if you are not moving for more than 5 seconds to reduce overheating them. pretty slick. You can pay more but the tech under the hood is all the same unless you want to mount it sideways, then you need the Prodigy P3.
Here is the factory harness:
And the controller:
(Buy from amazon, free shipping and controller is $73, easy returns if you don't like it)

And I forgot to mention, NO DRILLING REQUIRED! Velcro holds it really strongly to the dash, and if I sell the truck, I just remove it with some alcohol and unplug the harness.
That deal sticking out of the OBDII port is NOT part of the controller, its a bluetooth OBDII reader for my Torque Pro android app.

I mounted mine in the same place as 1stTruckGuy. If I remember correctly that is the location closest to the factory harness. Don't forget to add the relay to your fuse box for the 7 pin.

Here's the Tekonsha IQ mounted on the left side. There's a nice pre-drilled hole ready and waiting on that side. I've heard that some folks mount it with one screw only, but I took a leftover piece of slotted strap steel from a ceiling lamp mount, fastened that to the pre-drilled hole, and then mounted the Tekonsha with two screws, as designed.
I love that you can dismount this controller with your bare hands, right at the unit.

Location of brake controller connector 2008?
Could someone please point me in the right direction to find the connector for the brake controller that the Tekonsha 3035-P Brake Control Wiring Adapter connects to? I know they are usually stashed in an out of the way and hard to find location!
Any info appreciated

I mounted my Tekonsha near where guy w/ the 1st pic did. Mine may be a little higher, it's visible through the right window of the steering wheel without having to even move your head. Clean look & functions great.
