i usually use mobil 1, also have used castrol syntec. oil is pretty much oil, just stay away from the crap brands that no one buys that is covered in dust lol. you will never feel a difference between syn and non. its going to protect your engine better, less oxidization, less friction, they also add detergents and extra additives that conventional oil does not have. synthetic is worth it if you value your vehicle and plan on keeping it. also synthetic protects better if you are the type to start up the engine and just go.
