Default Motor Oil

I've got another oil change coming up here pretty soon, and I'm starting to seriously consider making the switch to synthetic. For those of you out there with more experience, is it worth it? And if so, what brands should I look for?

I think synthetic is definitely worth it. Some people are running 8 to 10,000 miles at a time, just changing filters (they send in the oil to have it analyzed). I still change it twice a year, about 5,000 miles. The synthetics retain their properties longer than conventional oil. Motorcraft oil filters are a must. They have an anti-drainback valve. I use either Castrol or Mobil 1. For more info, check out the website below. It's a little wordy, though.

I think I'm going to go this route next oil change, with a Fumoto valve. I just need to figure out if I need a tube or not.

You don't need a tube, the drain plug shoots right out of the bottom of the pan.

I went with a 5w30 Amsoil full synthetic. Got a buddy who has a club discount.

Is there anything extra, other than a motorcraft filter, that I need to do with the synthetic?

Should be good with just a Motorcraft filter and oil of your choice. You could need a filter wrench depending on how much it was tightened, but maybe not.

Awesome, and should there be a big difference between the 5w30 and the 5w20? Just a pros and cons thing?

when I made the switch to 5w30 (from 5w20) my engine noise went down slightly. It was refreshing haha.
