MOOG is great stuff, the guy with the grease gun is what needs to be different next time!
Someone gave you a bad install, don't blame the product here.

I just ordered new upper ca's and lower ball joints. By moog, from rockauto. Question is how hard are they to change out myself? I'm mechanically inclined I'm an air conditioning mechanic so I have some tool experience lol.

I have a set of these on mine and they are doing the same thing. I did the install when I put my lift on about a year ago and I've noticed grease leaking out on the steering knuckles. The install was fairly easy but I'm pretty sure I put too much grease in mine as well. This was the first time I had done ball joints and I wasn't really sure how much grease needed to go in them. I wouldn't blame the product for this by any means. Heard nothing but good things about MOOG products, so if I end up needing to replace mine, I would buy the same ones again (just put less grease in them next time).

That's what happened to me, over filled them. Do they usually come packed with grease or is it required to fill them up upon installation? I'll tackle them myself I think and not use a pneumatic grease gun next time. Oh well, live and learn I guess

What kind of grease is recommended for the type of joints? Would it be chassis grease?

You can't overfill them. If you do the grease will just leak out the seal. The seal is not air-tight and is designed to let the grease out. There is no way overfilling them should cause the rubber surround to tear or otherwise be damaged. The only consequence of overfilling is a little extra grease leaking out.
