Mods and Factory Warranties
Hey! New here. Just bought my first F150 a few weeks ago. It's an 08 Lariat. I'll post some pics as soon as we get some good weather and I get a clean truck.
I've been reading a lot here about some great mods. Level, exhaust, computer changes, air intake, etc.
My question is, how does this affect the factory warranty?
Thanks!

Welcome to the site and we're going to need those Lariat pics ASAP too.....lol jk.
As far as voiding the warranty I'll tell you what my local dealership told me. Some other members on here might have had other experiences but this is what I was told:
1)My local dealership said that exhaust won't void the warranty as long as none of the cats are cut so a cat-back system is ok.
2)The leveling kit won't void anything because most of the 4x4's nowadays come leveled.
3)If you get custom computer tunes for your truck most of them will save and store the factory tunes so if you do have to take it to the dealer than you can just put the factory tunes back into the truck's computer system and the dealership will never know.

The way I understand it...any mod can void the warranty, but they must prove the problem you're having is caused by the mod. For instance if your pumpkin pops they can't void the warranty because you have a CAI. Simply completely unrelated systems. However if you have say an Edge tuner and it fries the tranny (and you don't reinstall the stock tune) then it can void the warranty on the tranny.

This dealer mechanic was trying to tell me that if they had put the wheels and tires on that i did (33x13.5x18) then they would have been fined 10,000$ from FORD, because the taller tire will change the emissions because when crusing the engine is at a different rpm, thus different emssisons. I asked how did they get away with it with the harley and the 22"... Basically anything non OEM is no good as far as the dealer is concerned....

Yeah that reminds me, the guy who finished up the paperwork on my truck asked me to please fill out a comment card, and if I didn't all the employees in the dealership would have to take a week long training. I wonder how they enjoyed their week long training. Dumbass.
