My son in law seems to think it's a waste of money. He drives a Drango, and he's a pain in the @$**

I found that I was burning more oil in between changes when I was using synthetic (appx 3 quarts). 7Q initially followed by 3 more over time = $100 if you're using top end synthetic. I went back to regular conventional on the suggestion of a local mechanic around town. It lowered to about 1 quart being used in between changes. I have no explanation why... I was skeptical with the reason I was told (Synthetic oil is more "slippery" and goes by the rings more than conventional), but it seems to work?? I dunno. I use synthetic blend now, which consumption is about the same. Lots still favor the Motorcraft oil, but I use the Valvoline DuraBlend. 6 in one, half dozen in the other IMO.

You may have a different experience, but I would at least recommend checking your oil every 1k or so the first couple of oil changes if you're going to continue with syn.

Been using Mobil 1 fully synthetic 5/20 since I purchased the truck new. 98,000 miles, super charged, raced regularly, tow with it, daily driver. Considering I push a little over 500rwhp out of a bone stock motor I'd say it's damn good oil. Here's a Blackstone report from my truck when it had 84,000 miles. Wearing better then a naturally aspirated truck.
