Check the torque on the spark plugs.

Not sure what year ford you have, but sounds very similar in issue with what happened with my '04. Any check engine light? It was the coil packs on my truck. Be leary about driving it too much until you get it checked out. We all know what dumping raw fuel into the catalytic converter does eventually.

Look into faulty fuel injectors. My 05 had the same problem and it was a bad injector. Your truck should still be under warranty with Ford for the injectors.

I'm with Gone Postal, I had a very similar in my 05 with a cylinder misfire and it turned out all it needed was a tune up.. don't remember a raw gas smell though...

Sounds like spark plugs. My dads started misfiring when he got to that mileage. New plugs no more misfire
