Default Mirror to mirror contact, now to change

Like many, I finally had my driver's side outside mirror clobbered on a narrow bridge by an oncoming wider truck's mirror. While it did fold over, the plastic housing and mirror glass were both shattered.

My truck is a standard grade F150 with the black plastic mirrors.

So, will a mirror from any 2004 to 2008 fit?

How easy it it to change the glass only?

Can someone point to me a good replacement video or instructions?

Many thanks in advance!

It depends on what is broken behind the glass. Replacing just the glass if everything is broken behind it is an easy fix. But if anything is messed up behind it, probably cheaper and easier to just replace the mirror. Any mirrors from '04-'14 will fit. I have an '08 and put mirrors off of a '14 on it. It's just 3 bolts and a plug if you have anything power in it.

I found a few videos, maybe I can just change the glass and the housing cover.

Who has gotten a new piece of glass and changed that?

Keep in mind if you have any power options, wiring will be slightly different. 04-06 have their own wiring harness and 07-14 have a different one.

It's not that hard to change, I have just done one fpr the second time.
Be aware there are differences in those mirrors depending on how your truck was optioned. I have heated mirrors. I want to say the replacement was $180?
I just googled a youtube video.

Also if anyone has electric window issue, i used the Penny nail repair (youtube) had it has help up over two years.

Just the glass takes 2 min, no special tools. The glass itself clips in. If the clips are good then you just pop out the old glass and snap in the new.
