Can anybody tell me what years of transmissions will go into an '06. Obviously 04-08 body styles are compatible (I think), but will the newer units work without any issues? My stepson is trying to track a used one down through the shop he's working at, so any feedback I can give him is appreciated. Thx.

Well, time for an update. Found a used transmission for about nine hundred, now to put it in. No local garages wanted to touch it so i'm working off my back in a buddy's shop. Day one got the truck towed, drive shafts dropped, skid plate off and the starter removed. I'd like to punch the engineer that designed the bolt locations for the starter right in the side of the head. All in all, not too bad so far. Any tips would be welcome. hopefully everything goes well tomorrow.
