Default Mechanic Results of possible manifold leak....

So some of you may remember this post https://www.f150forum.com/f4/video-s...-sound-241983/ with the ticking type of sound.

Well today I took my truck to a reputable shop here locally to get it looked at finally. He hooked it up to a smoke machine and tested the exhaust for leaks. What he found was that on my mufflers (some kind of hackjob from the owner before me) has gone bad and that the horrible installation of my hfcs has bad welds. However, the odd part is that he said and I watched that the exhaust manifold is fine. This is great news but do you guys think that the aforementioned exhaust issues could be making the sound in that video linked above?

It could definitely be an exhaust leak after the manifolds.. I had a loose clamp on my driver side Y pipe and it sounded very similar to your leak sound.. The smoke test doesn't lie.. Seafoaming is also great at finding leaks if you need a second look.

You can seafoam the motor, then have a buddy rev it while you inspect.. Once the white smoke really starts pumping out, it will eek by almost any leaky area.. I found a pinhole leak in my wife's old ford focus exhaust manifold like this....

Rfinger, if the leak is on the exhaust system you can get a denim rag or towel and tie it around some joints and couplings just to confirm its the noise you hearing.. Any rust at a joint indicates water is leaking by, water leaking is a sign of an imperfect joint.... Hopefully that's it, and not the dreaded passenger side exhaust manifold!
