MC oil filter gone bad
Has anyone ever gotten a bad MC (FL820s) oil filter? I have about 700 miles on a fresh oil change and all of a sudden I started to get a 1-2 sec start up rattle that lasted a couple days until I put on a NEW MC filter. Noise is gone and I'm back to my quiet 5.4 no matter the temperature outside.
I have to suspect the anti drain back valve must have gone bad in a new filter.
This just proves to me how much a bad or wrong brand oil filter can impact the 3v 5.4.

Hm. Nope, never had a bad MC filter, period, in any of my vehicles. But there's always the chance for a dud. Hopefully your new one is of a different lot.

Me either till now and I've been using them for years. I read a post from another site that was dated back in 2009 that had the same issue so I gave it a shot. I was a little irritated with the noise since I just did the complete timing set a while back. Definitely a picky engine.

Could have I suppose. I now open the box to inspect the filter before I buy. I bought a 820s from Walmart before and when I was ready to put it on I opened the box and found what appeared to be gripped by the hulk. The box also was in pristine condition. Weird
