Max Trailer Weights
Hello All,
I have owned my F150 for about a year now and have nothing but good things to say about it, this is an awesome truck, so glad we chose Ford over all others!
I am looking to buy a travel trailer at the moment, the one I want has a dry weight of 6700lbs and a GVWR of 8500lbs.
I have an F150 supercrew with a 138.5" wheelbase, a 3.73 rear axle and 18"tires. If I am correct my truck can pull a max trailer weight of 8700lbs.
Assuming we add around 1200lbs of cargo to the trailer this gives us a trailer weight of around 7900lbs.
I know this is below the trucks max recomended trailer weight, but I just want to get a feel from you guys as to how close you you think I should get to the 8700lbs
This will be my first trailer so I really want to make sure we are not going to damage the truck or will be needing to upgrade to a 250/350.
any help/advice would be much appreciated!!
Many Thanks.

youll need to make sure you have good semi metalic pads, and youll need a brake controller for sure, but besides that i think youll be ok as long as you do smart driving and stay in the limits of your tires and the truck itself

yea pads will help, EBC i think is who it is makes some for specificly towing, might be a little pricey but well worth it in my opinion. like i said half of it is using your head, approach lights correctly and taking your time, towing a trailer is no time to get in a hurry..... towing isnt rocket science i actually enjoy towing with my truck gives me pride
