Default Manual transmission swap??

ok to start i should just say i hate automatic transmissions because of their all too common failure rate.. so im thinking about putting a manual 5 or 6 speed with a short shift in my 04 f150 fx4.. sooo im wondering if this has been done or if they came stock with a manual trans. if anyone can help i would appreciate it.

What size engine do you have? Manual transmission, to my knowledge, is only available on the 4.2L

you can get a bulletproof 4R75E built and get some non****ty programming done for under $3,000.

do you want a shift it yourself because you dont like the transmission or just to say you have a shift-it-yourself? if your truck has captains chairs, it dont going to work.

it'll keep you busy alright.......i would rather take a built 4R with a good convertor and programming and call it a day. the 4R in my car is very fun to drive. 2600 stall convertor and a 1-2 shift quick enough to break with rear rubber loose.
