$400's really not that bad... I really like the look of the digital over the *****. Well I guess put it on the list of "want to do's"... Thanks for the info.

Bought mine used, so I didn't get to check the boxes at the dealer for all of my wants.

This is obviously not for the F-150, but it is an extremely detailed write up. Probably a good place to start. I'd be interested in something like this myself. Although money for mods is probably dried up till next year.

I know when i looked at doing it in my 95' Taurus, i got very discouraged. Just to switch to automatic climate i would have had to pull the dash, change the mixer box, redo half the wiring, and add sensors. after looking at the work involved, i said screw it.

Thats the conclusion I have come to for my 06. Looking at my friends' Lariat, just too much to do, not an easy plug n play like the rest of the truck has been. Plus I'd rather dump $400+ into my engine instead.

I know this thread is old but I’m wondering if anyone has accomplished this swap in the time past, if you haven’t done it but have any info on it please share I would love to attempt to do the swap!

It takes way more than a control head to make an ATC system work
Like a sunload sensor and ambient temp sensor for starters
Your truck without EATC most lkely will not have the wiring for the sunload sensor but may have the wires for an ambient temp sensor
Either way, you want EATC buy a truck that has it
The electronic blower motor resistor is way bigger and might not fit in your existing HVAC case
Bag of worms IMO that could be solved but with some big difficulty
Good luck
Examine your truck versus the donor trucks wiring harnesses first

Not a chance. You basically need to swap the entire dash and everything behind it. The gauge cluster is different, ducting is different, you need the ambient air temp sensor and the panel for it…

At that point, just get a truck with EATC in it. Every now and then, someone gets a wild hair and wants to do this and vows to finish the job piece by piece and we wish them the best of luck.

We have had folks who swapped higher trim gauge clusters from EATC trucks to get the info center and their AC stops running, interior lights stop working and door chimes stop as well. This is just a fancy cluster swap that makes a mess.

Okay so what if I tell you that I have all of that from the donor truck exept the sunload sensor I have no idea what that is and where it’s located. I just need to install it all…right? I I have everything out of the lariat installing it should be plug and play? Do I need to add fuses to my xlt??
Thanks for the responses guys I’m just trying to figure out if I can do this or not

This post seems as though you haven’t read, or are discounting the 17 previous posts. Especially the previous post.

what is the point of this mod anyway? Is it simply for aesthetics of a different looking dash? Or to avoid the hassle of reaching over and adjusting a **** every once in a while?

You can tell me you have everything (you don’t, but still…) all you want. It doesn’t matter to me.

You aren’t plugging any fuses into an XLT smart junction box. It won’t be wired for any extra options. Just blank spots.

Even if you did, the EATC HVAC is tied to the gauge cluster. How exactly, I long since forgot. Without that, you’re still stuck.

That’s why I said you may as well either buy a Lariat or King Ranch or whatever model with EATC in it or literally scoop a whole complete dash and everything behind it and put it in your truck.

Then…you pray it works.
