Default Magnaflow Magnapack

So my stock muffler is on its last leg and I have decided to go ahead with my purchase of a Magnaflow Magnapack 3" SI/3" SO with a turn down just before the axle. I have watched multiple videos on Youtube and it sounds like what I am looking for. My question is for anyone on the forum that is currently running a similar setup - have you noticed any power gains?

My dad has replaced his muffler on his 2006 5.4, didnt do the down turn but it sounds great! Idk about any power gains but for about 70 bucks it is a great way to go!

Thanks Samb22. That was my thoughts too. Either $400+ for a cat back system or just replace the muffler and terminate it at the axle for $120 tops lol. O well, if I notice any power gains I will give an update. I should be receiving the muffler and tip sometime next week.

I wouldn't think there would be any power gains because you are losing back pressure with the bigger pipe. It might sound good, but probably no power gains.

If you have some money go with Magnaflow dual exits cat back you will feel like you've just gained 100 HP. I do...And that's all it matter.

Too late... the Magnapack will be at my door on Friday. After having duals on my last truck, I really had no desire to get it again. I decided that I would just replace my failing stock muffler and delete the tail pipe since my exhaust has a terrible rattle - and it is significantly cheaper. I plan on using the couple hundred I saved by just buying the muffler and put it towards wheels and tires or new lights. A performance gain wasn't a requirement for me, just a bonus if it were to happen.

On my 4.6, I had true dual 2.25 exhaust with the 14" magnapacks and hi-flow maggie cats and I loved the sound of it. It had a nice deep tone, which is common with magnaflow. I took them off though because I wanted it louder when I got into it. Now with the straights it is one loud S.O.B.

Well I have the 3" SI/SO Magnaflow Magnapack with a 3" Inlet/3.5" Outlet turn down installed just before the axle. I haven't been able to test it out since I just picked it up while I was on my lunch break from work but it already sounds just what I was looking for. Depending on how my microphone quality is, I may post a video.

I think you will be disappointed in sound but you will definitely hear it in the cab if you turn the pipe down under the truck.

& some states require that exhaust must exit out the rear beyond the bumper, or out the side behind the axle (would be behind the rear tire) .... but you probably checked that out already .....

So far I love it. I tried to get on it taking it back to work and it has the deep sound I was looking for. I wasn't really looking for how loud it is but the deep sound without the popping like Flowmasters do.
