So why don't you just level it out on the front? It'll look soooo much better than lowering a FORD 4x4!

Ford made it like that so it sits level with a load. Nothing looks worse than pulling a boat with your rear tires up in the wheelwells.

why do plaaces like roush sell a "rear lowering kit" (shackeles) for 150.00, if you can just remove blocks? is samller shackles a better way to do it? or not even? are new shocks needed if dropping rear only 1.5 - 2" ?

The 2wds don't have the blocks. I would prefer the block method because it keeps the suspension geometry the same.

Default lowered my rear 1.5"

I removed the rear blocks on my rearend today, and love the look. I reused the same U-Bolts and retorgued them with no problem. I took my truckto Wakefield ATV in Raleigh NC, It took 30 mins to remove the old blocks and use the same U-bolts. Had more than enough threads and when bolting back up. I used the same u-bolts.

Feels great to drive. People noticed as soon as I pulled out of the parking lot.Best $45 I spent.

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread but have a couple questions about this method of leveling an F-150 by removing the rear blocks on an 06 4x4
1. Should I get an alignment after doing this?
2. Will this change the geometry of the drivetrain and cause additional stress on anything?
Note: I would much rather raise the front end to level the truck but I only have ~2" of clearance getting in the garage now so that's a no go.
Thanks in advance for any and all help

Default 2014 f150 stx 4wd

Just got back from my mechanic and he removed the blocks and gave them back to me, took about 20 minutes. We kept the original U Bolts just incase we decide to raise it back up. Much improved look...

Leveling the front should not be a clearance issue for you. You are lifting the front 2", not the entire truck. Split the difference at the halfway point of the length of your truck and you are looking at only about an inch there.

If you go with the block removal you do not need an alignment. I cannot speak to the stresses as I am not certain what if any shim is integrated into the block but I suspect that it is not an issue.
