Default Lower Rear End?

I've been reading tons of threads concerning front-end lifts. However, I have seen nothing concerning lowering the rear end to match the front. So I have a couple of questions.

1. Is this possible

2. If the answer to #1 is yes, tell me about what I need.

3. I have a 17' ski boat. Will I still be able to pull it with the rear end lowered.

Thanks for all your help

You can use drop shackles. Most drop shackles come in 1 and 2 inches. All thats needed from what i can see is unscrewing the factory shackles and bolting in the new ones. There will be a bolt at the top and bottom of each shackle. Shackles hold the leaf springs to the frame of the truck. Taller shackles will end up raising the position of your leaf springs which will lower the truck. Thats what drop shackles are. That way your payload capacity is not harmed at all but you will have less clearance for the back tires in the fender wells. I would measure how far the top of your tire is now from the top of the finder wells. Then load up your boat and remeasure. That will tell you how much clearance you will have after subracting the 2 inches when you apply the new drop shackles. I have heard of some people having problems with their shocks bottoming out from lowering the rear end of the truck. Some people see a change in ride in the rear if the shocks are close to bottoming out. Someone else may have some info on if you need smaller shocks.

Thanks...if it ever stops raining and warms up a little bit I'll get the boat out of hibernation and measure.

I recently completed this mod and shopped around and found the Ground Force #91200 kit the best choice. The reason is because they come with the pinion angle shims, if you find a kit without the mention of these shims DO NOT BUY THEM! Your rear end will have a vibration. Send me a PM and I will direct you to the site I bought mine from they were less than 70.00 shipped. My screw is laying level now!

I did 2" lowering shackles and removed the blocks in the rear and my truck did not require pinion angle shims. The rear end is as smooth as before (although it is a little bumpier).

06 f150 supercab 2wd 4.6l. saleen side exhaust, k&n intake, 2in read leveling kit. the leveling kit looks great in the driveway and the i have no vibs in the rear with the pinion angle shim. however the suspension is soft!! also at highway speed the rear end sways all over and it handles like sh**. the sway is doubled and it feels like im drivin through snow. im not sure if im tearin it back out yet. this truck sounds bad ***.

Thanks for all the replies. I really want it leveled, but now I'm worried about losing the smooth ride I'm used to. Too many decisions.
