Lower ball joints needed
Was just informed I need lower ball joints in my 2004 super crew 4x4.
Can anyone give me an estimate of what this should cost?
My garage has given me a price of $600.00 this seems high but not sure what is involved with the work.

It can be around that. It's the parts that add up, you have to buy the whole A arm. Yeah, change what I said, I was thinking upper. I had all 4 replaced with upper A arm for $450.

Lower ball joints are cheaper then uppers. The upper ball joints are a part of the upper control arm and the whole arm has to be replaced. The lower ball joint can be removed from the lower control arm and replaced. I paid about 150 a piece for lifetime warranty upper control arms And the lower ball joints were about 60 a piece. 600 is a huge number to do the lower ball joints! I'd get a second shop to take a look

The repair is a little labor intensive since you have to pull the axle out to use the press to remove the lower ball joints. I did this job myself. I watched the you tube video and took it slow. I bought Moog problem solver ball joints on Amazon for $35 for the pair. Rented the press from Autozone for nothing and took care of it. Since you have if this far apart check you front shocks. I replaced mine while I had it apart. Did the whole job in the back yard over two Saturdays and shocks and joints cost me around $200.
