My Ford guy told me 580 to mid 600's was good. I think 580 is low but I would kill for 650 ha ha

Tom
Sorry, briefly tried to respond to you in the am but was in a rush and could'nt get it right. I told you I was low tech. Anyway, found the brake booster hose and it is attached and in good shape. I"ll just keep on going. Exhaust/cats are next

I forgot to mention I have a 4.6 tho maybe a little different sorry for asking so many questions on your thread. One dealer told me the idle was 1,000-1,050 I laughed and called another dealer.

The source was cracked joint in the molded plastic manifold, + a half plugged on Brake Booster elbow you were asking about, + gasket leak on bank 1. Everywhere I sprayed ether, I got a response. Was wondering if I was NUTS. Even spraying UNDER the manifold from the front below the alternator would get to the back and effect the O2 sensor signals!

Its all good, ask away. yeah, 1,000 seems high. Big difference between 580 and 1,000. They also thought my shaking steering wheel and vibrating hood was normal, ha

Is that all, just those 3 little things lol. You know i have yet to whip out the propane, partly cause Im scared what I might find. I did the Scotty Kilmer cigar smoke test on my '99 and was nauseous so bad I had to lay down for a couple of hours and did'nt find any vac leaks on that truck anyway. Never ever will do that again. I"d rather burn my eyebrows off. Its still doing that weird start up thing when warm. It just sounds weak, I can't describe it. Just starts funny, almost like its not getting fuel. I have a new fuel pump sitting here and gonna do the cats/exhaust soon. Hopefully one or both will help. thanks for the input

I turned mine up with my gryphon today it allows you to go up in 5 rpm increments I just went 60 rpms she now idles at around 710 and is smooth as silk not even a water bottle in the cup holder vibration. Only time I felt it was when the AC compressor kicked on. Not sure if this will help you out but I got tired of everyone telling me nothing was wrong and the truck vibrating like that. If there is a hidden cause to why it was doing that maybe it will reveal itself now. Good luck

I don't have any kind of tuner, kind of ignorant as to exactly what they are and what they do. I think I have somewhat of an idea, but I always thought it was kind of masking the real problem. Again, I have zero experience with them so pardon my lack of knowledge, maybe they kind of fix the problem instaed of masking it. Im just bent on trying to find out what my issue really is. It may just be my driver side cam phaser.sometimes it sounds horrible. I definately have a cat problem on one if not both sides too and I have a new fuel pump sitting in the garage. I have a torque pro adapter on the way. I want to see some live data. I think Im going to systematically do one of these things at a time and see if one or a combo of all help me out. Im still a little suspicious about my new MC plugs and coils, more so my coils. Part of me wants to swap all my new ones and put back the originals back in because all of this seemed to start after I did my plug and coil change. It at least idled better before and my old plugs looked horrible. The saga continues. At least Im not laying on a wet cold driveway anymore. Later

The tuner will net you a little more power can allow for custom calibrations on the PCM for aftermarket parts (such as dual exhaust and CAI, headers etc...) some have the live data and the edge evolution and PHP Gryphon allow you to monitor certain information while driving. I'd have to say it's the best $200 I ever spent on my truck. I hope you get yours worked out like I said before I have the 4.6 so mine doesn't have the phasers or VCT issue it just apparently needed a little boost in the idle.
