I highly doubt a tune is going to stop my hood from shaking when open or my steering wheel for that matter. Maybe all of us low/rough idle unsolved trucks can meet in a field somewhere and play chicken............. That might even solve it. On a side note, where the heck does the brake booster line go once it dissapears behind the manifold. I try to follow it with my insp camera and always dead end. I just want to see if its torn up or cracked maybe causing a vac leak

Funny thing today,,,,,,,,, I actually saw a truck I really wanted before I bought this 04. Super clean 08, low miles, nice cap, the whole nine yrds. Dealer wanted way too much for it. I actually know what they paid via a friend of mine who frequents and has access to the auction. I didn't tell them i knew, but used it as my guide. I know they need to make money, how much is up to them. So I casually say, "you're way to high", You probably only paid xxx amount for it. They show me this mile long list of what they did to it, retail cost of course as if someone had brought it in for all of that service and I said "so, that does'nt concern me". they came down $1,000 and the aussie manager, yeah the guy had a wicked aussie accent wanted a commitment on the spot. I was smart enough to drive alone in my wifes car so I had my convenient excuse. Anyway, I saw it today in a shopping center near my house and as I was slowly passing the guy head on I just kept staring at it and saying man there goes that nice truck i almost bought. The guy just scowed at me as if to say 'what are you lookin at fool. Instaed I got the 04 idler machine. Go figure huh

I have been following your idle issue posts and had a thought yesterday about the brake booster hose causing a vac leak on your vehicle. PM me your email address and I will email you some instructions that may help you check the booster hose.

I will PM you, when you log on to the forum, a message will probably come up saying you have a private message. If not, watch the Right side of the page and next to Private Messages, you will have a "1", open that and you can reply to my message. I will then email an attachment on the Brake Booster info you are looking for.

Called the dealer today and asked what the idle RPM should be was told 700-800 hot idle I'm a little bit under that at 650. So the tech. Told me to try and bump it up a bit with the programmer. Will do this tomorrow and see if it helps

Default Location of Brake Booster Line

@Tommy J
I notice no one has answered your question.

That Brake Booster line goes to the drivers side "VERY BOTTOM" of the intake manifold. You can clearly see it (the "formed" "L" 3/8" vacuum hose) at the upper right of the last photo in the post at this link:

I can't say it is the "SOLE" source of your problem, but it was NOT properly plugged on - on '04 F150 from the factory - and caused similar problems.

I was able to determine I had a vacuum leak by spraying starting fluid (after getting my fire extinguisher ready) around the back of my Intake manifold. RESULT OF TEST: Idle would "immediately" increase, and 02 sensors on BOTH banks would go crazy on the OBDII scanner.

Wishing the best to all.

Thanks for noticing. I actually found it today with my inspection camera. I was going the wrong direction looking for it before. It was attached and in good shape which is good because I have no idea how I would have replaced it. Kudos to surgeons with the ortoscopic tools because left is right and up is down with these cameras. I almost wish I had some kind of vac leak but no go. My truck is just inconsistent. After driving it today it actually smoothed out a little but is still way too low on the idle. The cats/exhaust are my next move. I know I have an issue with them and who knows it might clear me up a little. Take care
