Default LOUD whistle sound

Hey guys, 2004 F150 SCAB 4x4 5.4L. For the past 2 weeks (It's been really cold) I am getting a loud WHISTLE sound coming from the front of my truck when I start it up in the morning and sometimes it whistle's when I am driving. It is coming from either the cooling fan or my belt for sure. If I start it and put my ear near my radiator, I almost go deaf! I had a my mechanic come by today again because it did not do it yesterday. He the sound coming from the cooling fan and he believe that is my be the clutch bearing?? I cannot say this is from the cold but when I start it up after sitting overnight it is terrible. It was doing it on the highway driving 100 - 110KM last night. When I gave it some juice it sometimes would whistle again and slowly go down as my speed went down. I am planning on taking it to Ford on Thurs but would like to tell the mechanic what I believe is the problem to avoid a expensive bill. Thanks for the advice!

Take a look at this thread...should help.

Had the same problem. I was able to find enough info on this site to take to the dealer and get them to replace the alternator. If your having the same problem I was having this should fix the problem.

Interesting but mine is not so much when I am driving.. It does it sometimes but less than more. My issue is when I start it in the morning it almost kills your hearing! It's so LOUD for about 10 sec and then does down. I guess I will just get them to inspect it and hope it does it for them. I will let you guys know on Friday what it was (If they fix it) Thanks

I am going tomorrow to the dealer to show him the video & thurs going to leave it with them to fix whatever it is.. I think it could be three things. Clutch Fan/ Alternator Rear Bearing or something to do with my intake manifold & cold air. going through the forum that is what I think it may be but I will let you know on thurs night what the damage it

Default Clutch

Its sounds like a clutch. I don't know if it is the fan or the a/c clutch! I don't know though it is had to tell exactly!

I had the exact same noise when i started my truck. I took it to the dealership and they replaced the Idler pulley. So far no whistling noise.

Now if they can just find the cause for the cracking noise around the passenger side windshield. It only does it when I go over 50 mph.
