Thought my battery was dead as the truck would not turn over. Even jumping it did nothing. The battery was old enough, so I figured I would replace it anyways.

Pop n the new battery, go to start her up, and she starts with this very loud screeching, a terrible smell, and lots of blue smoke coming out of the engine cmpartment.

Obviously I shut her right off. Any ideas from wha I have written? I know I will have to get it towed to go to the shop....

I would have someone turn the motor over and see if the tensioner pully, water pump, alternator, ect... has not seized up. The belt could cause your smoke.
