I second all the above....but, I also want to add, make damn sure your pickup screen isn't clogged and also check thrust on oil pump...you'll already be in there.....when I did the timing components on mine, I didn't check....long story short, $4500 later, brand new motor....plus side, I have total control over maintenance now....lol

Wow. I feel for you man.

I spent a good bit less than 4500 and i took care of the problem permanently. My truck is sporting the 5.4 4v from a low mileage navigator.
