Don't the 4.6 3v have the same issues? My 05 gt had a 4.6 3v I put cams in it and lockout phasers. They tended to have same issues. My buddies sport track has a 4.6 3v and it sounds like a diesel with a bad tick.

Weird. Well my 05 gt 3v did all the same crap the trucks do. And my gt only had 16k miles on it.

I "think" Mustangs went to 3 valve in '05, but F150's didn't until '09. I did a bunch of searches after I saw this truck today and that's what it looked like.

Does the 4.6 in '08s have any specific issues I need to be aware of and look for?

Thanks

I will say this the 4.6 in the mustang with 3v was 300hp same as 5.4 3v but the 5.4 3v is a torque monster compared to the 4.6 3v

I have an 04 4.6 and its a great engine so far. The down side is it gets the same MPG as the 5.4 with less HP and torque, but the trade off is there are a lot less issues with the 4.6. I don't tow much on mine other than lumber and occasional stones from Menards or Lowes. Good luck, let us know what you decide.

Had an 05 4.6 and traded it in with 180k miles. Ran like a scalded dog. Great little v8. I had it in a regular cab though. A little lighter truck. Suited my needs then.

I've also noticed it doesn't matter if I baby my truck or drive it like I stole it my MPGs remain about the same.

Thanks guys. I went and looked at the truck and it's super clean underneath and ran just fine. The truck has a decent dent in the back passenger side of the bed that would run me about a grand to fix, some scuffs, scrapes and the back tires are shot. The truck is an '08 with 96k miles. What would you guys consider a fair price for that truck?

Good looking truck. I paid 10,500 for my 04 STX 2wd about a year and a half ago but it had 58k miles. It looks clean from the pics but you say there is a dent in the passenger side. Look at others in your area and compare prices, prices are all over the board depending on your location.
