looking for power!
so just picked up my 04 f150, love it but the only thing is that it manual windows and locks. Now I'm looking into swapping the guts and harness over from a donor (or new parts), and was curious if anyone had done this or if any knew how hard it is. I assume the connections from the dash harness have everything to add the door harness

That was a thought that crossed my mind to have installed with an alarm system. I can tolerate manual locks but it's a pia with the locks when you have anyone riding with you

you could prob make it work, but gettin the factory look is gonna be a PITA, you have to have the panels from a donor and get all the wiring right they switches dont look ad and should be easy to install

Power door locks are a piece of cake to add, but don't expect the wiring to already be there in the STX standard, or the XL models. I too bought a 4 actuator kit (for 4 doors; only two were needed for my STX standard model). I have two spare actuators in case one in the door fails. The kit gives you plenty of wiring to run through the dash and into the door panels. As others have stated, not a difficult kit to install, and inexpensive.
I would caution on buying a cheap power window kit. TRUCK'N magazine did a write-up 3 or 4 issues ago on an installation of power door locks and windows. They warned of cheaper power window kits that use a nylon fishing wire with plastic "*****" used to open/close the windows. These are prone to snap. The article suggested the stronger nylon "belt" and teeth type setup; much stronger.
So, in the catagory of power windows, if you buy cheap, you get cheap, and would end up doing it twice, costing you more in the long run.
