I don't see where otto said anything about a cylinder bank.

Just saw the link you posted otto, I read that a few months ago. didn't realize I was talking to an exhaust pro here ^^

Since you're subbed here, got a tip for a high performance quiet muffler? Or a recommendation for a y-pipe?

I haven't said it in this thread I don't believe but I try to say it in every cat thread: make sure you take care of the reason the cat failed (misfire, open injector, etc) before replacing.
You can go with the 94306, but it's more money. It's larger so it will be a touch quieter.
Personally the 94106s are cheap enough that if you get it all put together you can add another resonator to make it quieter than what the 94306s would be and be money ahead.
If I was doing a quiet, performance system here's what I'd do: replace the cats with either the 94106/94306 cats, 2.5" pipes going into a Magnaflow 10778 Y pipe which is a 3" outlet, Then go 3" pipe back to a either a 22" Magnaflow or a 19/24" Borla, and then exit it like the stock configuration. Then if you get that and it's still a little loud, add a Dynomax bullet in front of the muffler to act as a resonator and a little more sound deadening.

Nice, I just found that y-pipe on my own, but glad to hear you confirm it. I was misfiring on 2 cylinders, and that's when I got the cat code... safe bet that was it and all?

Okay, I was only looking at amazon for pricing, and there wasn't a huge difference, but the cheapest 94106 is $60 shipped, 94306 $90 shipped.

I'm gonna do exactly that, then. 94106's to the y-pipe to a... hmm..

Edit: 22 in magnaflow. I guess i'll let the shop decide what will fit best. Other parts are ordered.

And thanks a ton, you've been super helpful. I'm sure you've given all this info out dozens of time, but thanks for saying it again for me.

Yep probably the misfire dumping fuel onto the cats= toasted cats. As long as you have fixed the misfire you should be good to go. I hadn't checked the pricing for a while on the 94306's, they also have the bung in them too for the rear O2 where the 94106 has to be added. So now with the new pricing 94106+a bullet vs. 94306 is a wash. And you still might have to add a resonator with the 94306 depending on your taste so it's only $60 difference+ $40 for a bullet later on.
